Swimming Pool Construction
When you invest in a Mission Pool, you receive something you can’t buy anywhere else… our talented field personnel.

Pool Construction Process Riverside, San Diego, & Orange County
One of the greatest assets of Mission Pools is the quality of site supervisors employed by the company. These men are professional builders with years of experience in the construction of swimming pools of all types. Your project supervisor will meet with you on site prior to any work being done to discuss the process and answer any questions you may have.
Construction can be difficult and challenging but it is our job to make the process seamless to the client. It is our passion to produce the best pools and to never, never, accept sub-par performance. We have walls lined with industry awards at each of our offices. We invite you to come in for a personal tour and get ideas for your new pool.
Design & Permits
The design is done so the working drawings and engineering are underway. An application for a permit is being readied and we have called for Dig Alert to layout any underground utilities around the construction site.
When the design is completed a scaled working drawing is developed for the use of all the construction trades and the project superintendent. These drawings show the pool location details as well as dimensions for the pool and spa to be used for layout in the yard prior to the excavation. This plan will also include the equipment and lighting to be used for the pool operation.
Layout and Excavation
And then it is the big day…the layout and excavation of the pool. Forms will be installed to the shape of the pool and elevations will be established. Your pool will be dug using special equipment based on access into the back yard. Your children may not want to go to school because of the excitement but just let them know that we will still be working when they get home in the afternoon.
Once the excavation is completed our steel crews will be ready to start. The steel is the skeleton for the pool and is engineered with our lifetime structural warranty in mind. You will be fascinated at how the men can bend and form the steel to produce walls, your spa, benches and ledges.
Upon completion of the steel, our plumbing experts begin. The plumbing in a Mission Pools project is oversized to insure proper circulation, therapy jet activity and pump efficiency. In our pools there is no, “good, better, or best”…there is only best. As the plumbing continues you will see the installation of utilities and the setting of the equipment. Energy efficient pumps, large filters, chlorination equipment, and heaters make up the equipment set. It is common for our clients to be amazed at the amount of plumbing that goes into the installation of your pool and optional amenities. You will see the plumbing, valves and fittings all are installed for easy maintenance for the equipment.
The quality of construction on your pool structure is important but it is equally important to have an equipment area that is clean, neat and easy to maintain. Plumbing lines are level and plumb, pipes are clearly marked and valves are easy to use. Every equipment area is as unique as every swimming pool is. It does not matter how much or how little equipment is on site, the standard is still the same . . . make it work well and make it impressive!
This is the day when you will really be able to see the shell size and shape of your pool. When our Shotcrete crew arrives, and it is an early wake up call, to get all of their prep work completed before the very large concrete truck shows up to begin unloading our specialty design mix into our shotcrete pump. Depending on the size of your project it will take several of these trucks and most of the day to complete the process. However, by the end of the day your pool has appeared. Steps and benches are now in place and the pool begins to look more and more like the plan. In short, the hole is now a structure ready for the beauty stages to begin.
Tile & Coping Installation
With as much fun as the structural construction is, there is nothing like seeing the tile and coping you chose being installed. If part of your overall design and contracted work includes, rock work for waterfalls, grottos’ slides, fire bowls, decking and more. This is the time your structure will begin looking like the finished product you envisioned in the very beginning. Once all this is completed it is time for the final phase . . . your plaster installation.
Plaster and Filling
Your plaster choice will be applied and expertly troweled to give a smooth and beautiful finish. Once the plaster is completed, it will be time to fill your pool. Depending on the size of your pool, filling with water will usually be complete in a day or two. Once the pool is completely filled we will come out and start up the equipment and make sure everything is set. At this stage our service department will make an appointment with you to go over the operation and maintenance of your new pool. Remember, just because the pool construction is done, that does not mean we are gone. To the contrary, our service department is as close as the phone.
There you have it…six to eight weeks of the swimming pool construction process. We think you will enjoy the fact that from the people scheduling and working on your project to the superintendent responsible for the final finished product, all have pride in the fact that they built your Mission Pool. Their job is to communicate with you throughout the process and get answers to all of your questions. Communication is a big part of our business plan and makes for happy clients.
